Animation

Last week we created a wiki, a wiki is an extremly useful way to display information. our task was to research 'what is technology like in education today' in wales. This week we presented the information to the class and summarised what we think of technology and how advanced it is, and how it has contributed so much to education in the past 10-20 years.
Apart from the wiki we discovered another new website http://delicious.com/ a webpage where once registered you can you bookmarks, and stacks to keep track of all your favourite websites. by bookmarking your webpage it enables other users to simply type in a keyword and fr all related links to pop up. i find that its really useful for research and for hobbies.
During this weeks lesson we were also told to explore the
website 2simple animation that allows you to create amazing animations, you can draw images of any size and coloour, add frames, express yourself, make funny animations, and gthen watch them come to life! its a great tool for all ages too seeing as thee is a simple version and then an advanced vesion to do more complex animations. our task was to make up a catchphrase and then see if the class could guess what it was. Me being me couldnt think of a catch phrase and therefore did a song. My animation was a woman and a big X the a man crying and a big X........... no woman no cry!

Research week.

During research week, apart from catching up on my sleep i did alot of work and reading. For the ICT lesson we had to create a wiki, about Education today in wales and what technology is like today in classrooms. I never realised how much technology has advanced growing up in school as its advancing, Ive seen how helpful technology can be, how children have access to the Internet and wikipedia and can find anything they want. Teachers can interpret technology into their lessons using projectors and whiteboards.I found a good video on YouTube showing how times have changed and technology has advanced.

We also had alot of work from other modules, whilst trying to at least start my assignment for Andy on "What is education for?" I had to first finish the essay we were given on Theories of Thinking and Learning about Learning styles, and overcome my fears of Referencing! and then read read read...

Reflective Learning

Reflective learning is a way of learning not an assessment and therefore can help my study in many ways. I relate to the article i read on reflective learning because i am constantly considering how motivated i am, how im doing so far on the course and how i can improve how i am doing. i also think about my strenghth and weanesses and how i can improve and work on my weaknesses. I think reflective learning is very useful because you can record how your prgressing through the year, look back at how your studying and if your struggling, it helps you deal with your emotions, how you feel about a course, a lecturer or anything in everyday life.

5 weeks in

I'm 5 week into the term now, the first term of the first year. This week we havn't really had an ICT lesson however our work was on moodle (a very useful site) At the moment I'm finding the work okay, working on my blog alot, developing posts, they need to contain pictures and links, appropriate titles and references to other blogs! however we do have so much support. Theres alot of group work too which i enjoy :) Theres alot of reading involved in this course and six modules to keep up with, ICT I'll admit isn't my favourite module but I'm sure that will change as the year progresses.

The Website

We chose to research sunbeds as it is a very controversial topic. we found a page called sunbedsassociation.org. At first the website seemed rather genuine, there were many facts and it was even updated very recently (october 6 2011) all the laws and numerous amount of information seemed excellent and the website does look appealing. However on further inspection all the information and even the statistics about sunbeds given were from a source called The sunbed association... themselves. We then used site: to look into the site further and found that the website is extremelly biased and actually encouraged sunbed use claming it is the only way to get vitamin D and without this the website scares people by listing all the things that could go wrong without vitamin D. The website may look good, and on a whole is a good website, it has contact details and links, everything you would want from a good webpage, except all their information is false and one sided, and doesnt inform the reader of the risks of sunbeds such as cancer, something many adults and especially children should know.
